Just because you are a young person and are about to start your employment journey doesn't mean that you have no rights at work or that your shouldn't be treated fairly.  Trade Unions are about uniting workers to fight for the things that matter to you.

We believe that every worker deserves to earn decent wages, have good working conditions and to be treated with dignity and respect. We realise that the reality is that many young people are trapped in lower paid  and lower skilled jobs where there is no union to defend you from bosses who are free to exploit their staff members, but it doesn't have to be this way.

Trade unions ensure that you are safe and secure while at work. We want you to understand and enforce your basic rights, whether it be your right to secure hours, holiday pay, job protection or workplace safety. A union will always back you up if you have a problem at work where you feel that you are being treated unfairly.  We make sure that every worker is treated with dignity, free from bullying, harrasment or discrimination.  We also tackle low pay issues head on and fight against the abuse of zero hours contracts.

Being part of a union means that you are strong and not alone, we use a strength in numbers strategy to get things done which ensures that your voice is heard on matters that affect you at work. As a member of Unite  you will have 1.4 million people on your side which will make you stronger as young workers.

Every young worker, students, part time, full time, casual, temporary , apprentices or trainees can join a Trade Union.  We want you to be protected while at work so join a union today and stand up for what's important to you.

It's really easy to sign up, you can either do so online or visit one of our offices  to fill out an application form.
